Eagle-eyed royal fans have noted a strong physical resemblance between 11-year-old Prince George and one of his relatives on Prince William’s side. What do you think?

It’s often debated whether Prince George looks more like his mother, Princess Kate, or his father, Prince William. But royal fans have stumbled across a lesser-known family member to whom the young royal bears a striking resemblance.

The similarities came to light when Charles Spencer, shared a throwback photo of his father, John Spencer. Charles is the brother of the late Princess Diana, and an uncle to future king, William. The picture was taken in the 1950s and shows John marching in military uniform. In the caption, Charles wrote: “My father, in military mode, 70 years ago. #scotsgreys #royalscotsgreys #1950s #blackandwhitephotography.”

Eagle-eyed fans were quick to express their surprise at how much George, 11, looks like his great-grandfather. ” Prince George looks a lot like him,” one noted, while another Instagram user agreed, adding, “Wow in this picture he really does”. Another person commented: “Wow I see a mix of Harry and William in him. Prince George also looks a lot like him.”

Charles continues to live at Althorp House, the Spencer family home where he grew up with his sisters, the late Princess Diana, Lady Jane Fellowes, and Lady Sarah McCorquodale. Just recently, Charles shared a touching tribute to his brother-in-law, Lord Robert Fellowes, who died aged 82. Lord Fellowes married Charles’ sister Jane in 1978. The couple shared three children: Laura Fellowes, 44; Alexander Robert Fellowes, 41; and Eleanor Ruth Fellowes, 38.

Charles wrote: “My absolutely exceptional brother-in-law, Robert, is no longer with us. A total gentleman—in all the best meanings of that word — he was a man of humour, wisdom, and utter integrity. I’m deeply proud to have been his brother-in-law.” Robert was one of the late Queen’s courtiers and helped her to navigate through her “annus horribilis” in 1992 when three of the Queen’s children got divorced, and a devastating fire broke out at Windsor Castle.

Lord Fellowes was also working for the Queen when Princess Diana, his sister-in-law, died, and was part of the small team that advised the Queen to return to London from Balmoral. It comes after Charles confirmed the end of his third marriage, to wife Karen Spencer. Karen, 52, married the Earl in 2011 after being set up on a blind date with him in Los Angeles the year before. The couple wed four months after Charles proposed, in the grounds of the family estate, Althorp , where his late sister Princess Diana is buried.

But on 8 June, Charles confirmed the end of their marriage, telling the Mail on Sunday : “It is immensely sad. I just want to devote myself to all my children, and to my grandchildren, and I wish Karen every happiness in the future.” The former couple share one daughter together, Lady Charlotte Diana Spencer, whom they welcomed in 2012. Karen is also mum to Emma and Kate from a previous marriage with Mark Gordon, which lasted from 1997 to 2003.

Charles, meanwhile, has seven children from his three marriages. He shares Lady Kitty Spencer, twins Lady Eliza and Lady Amelia Spencer and Louis Spencer, Viscount Althorp , with his ex-wife Victoria Aitken . He is also the father to The Hon. Edmund Spencer and Lady Lara Spencer, with his second wife Caroline Freud, as well as 11-year-old Charlotte. Charles did not attend the weddings of his daughters Kitty and Amelia in 2021 and 2023, respectively, amid reports that his relationship with his elder children had “cooled”.
