GROUNDED Caitlin Clark’s teammate at risk of missing $55,000 WNBA All-Star competition after tech outage causes travel chaos

Caitlin Clark is also not competing in All Star challenges

INDIANA Fever star Erica Wheeler is at risk of missing the All-Star weekend this year.

Wheeler was selected to play in the WNBA All-Star Skills Challenge, but still hasn’t made it to Phoenix.

On Friday, multiple airlines had to ground flights due to a Microsoft-Crowdstrike outage, and Wheeler’s Delta Airlines flight to Phoenix was a part of that issue.

Even worse, there were no other flights leaving for Phoenix that would get here there in time for the 6 pm ET start.

“UPDATE: FLIGHT CANCELLED,” she tweeted.

“So yaaaaaa no airlines have flight leaving out in time to make it to PHX in time for the Skills Challenge!

“The one friend I have that have a PJ, pilot has maxed out on his hours to fly til Tuesday so wow!

“WHAT IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW!”

Wheeler has since deleted her post, but many fans were tagging notable figures in Indiana to try helping her get to Phoenix.

She was set to face off against Brittney Griner, Sophie Cunningham, Allisha Gray and Marina Mabrey.

Both Caitlin Clark and Sabrina Ionescu will not be playing in the game, despite being named All Stars.

“The @WNBA confirmed that [Sabrina Ionescu] and [Caitlin Clark] were invited for 3-point contest and declined participating,” WNBA reporter Doug Feinberg wrote.

“Ionescu is taking part in the Olympic camp which is getting ready for the Paris Games.”

Clark explained why she won’t be participating while at the All Star press conference.

“I think just rest,” she said.

“I’ve been playing basketball for a year straight, it’s not an easy thing to just show up to and shoot off of a rack.

“It’s not something I’ve ever done before. It’s not something I’ve had a lot of time to practice, I’ve been focusing on helping my team win games.

“So I think just enjoying this break, I think there’s going to be plenty of opportunities for me to do that at some point…

“I need a break, and I need to take some time for myself to enjoy what I want to do.”
