Embiid did have a productive game for Team USA despite the numerous errors in the contest
NBA fans weren’t afraid to call out Joel Embiid for his brutal lowlights in an Olympic exhibition game on Saturday.
Embiid’s gaffes came as Team USA almost suffered one of the biggest upset losses of all time to South Sudan in the Olympics showcase game at London’s 02 Arena.

South Sudan was up 14 in the first half as they held Team USA to 1-for-11 shooting from three while creating nine first-half turnovers.
Two of the turnovers came from the starter Embiid, who was double-teamed in both instances.
One of the turnovers saw the Philadelphia 76ers star pass the ball behind his back out-of-bounds to no Team USA players in the vicinity.
During the third quarter, Embiid also missed a wide-open layup after receiving a pass from LeBron James but got the offensive rebound and made the second try.
Still, fans shared their disapproval of the 30-year-old, saying he shouldn’t start for Team USA moving forward.
“Watching Joel Embiid out there w/errbody else just reminds me how slow him and his game is,” one wrote.
“Team USA is bringing every corner of NBA Twitter together united around one idea: Joel Embiid can’t start for this team,” another commented.
“Joel Embiid is killing the US,” a third added.
While Embiid certainly had lowlights in the game, the 2022-23 MVP was still productive for the team.
He finished the game with 14 points (5-6 FG), seven rebounds, and three assists and was +16.
Despite the sluggish start to the game, Team USA narrowly beat South Sudan 101-100.
LeBron led the team, posting 23 points, six rebounds, and six assists.
The Los Angeles Lakers superstar even scored the game-winning layup with eight seconds left in the contest.
USA’s win comes after a victory over Canada in Las Vegas and wins over Australia and Serbia in Abu Dhabi.
