“Who Cares”: George Karl Minces No Words in Latest LeBron James Disrespect Days After Asking Lakers Star to Retire

Let’s get this clear before anything, LeBron James isn’t done yet! The Los Angeles Lakers superstar turned 40 and became the oldest active player in the league. But, he neither looks nor performs his age, averaging 23.5 points, 7.9 boards, & 9.0 assists in his 22nd season. Amid this legacy-defining situation, former NBA Coach George Karl, who had already disrespectfully addressed the veteran’s retirement, once again scoffed at the King’s latest achievement.

Following his 40th birthday, SportsCenter dropped a fresh graphic of the 40-year-old Bron embracing the younger version of himself with an astonishing piece of trivia via X. The post read, “Tonight, LeBron will be the first player in NBA history to play a game as both a teenager and a 40-year-old.” In response, George reposted it and candidly wrote, “Who cares”

Firstly, it’s a commendable feat to play the sport for over two decades, especially at the highest level. Moreover, LeBron James didn’t just turn into an icon after playing a few seasons in the league. He came into the league with a scary level of hype set around him, not to forget Sports Illustrated’s ‘Chosen One’ coverage before his debut. Importantly, he lived up to the widely desired standards and has been consistent with it for 22 years. So, people do care about the trivia, unlike what George Karl pointed out.

This isn’t something the 73-year-old former coach said out of the blue, but a continuation of a series of controversial views he has been throwing up recently. And it wasn’t just for King James. Even Carmelo Anthony and Kenyon Martin faced Karl’s tweets!

Moreover, as I established earlier, this “Who cares” post came days after he disrespectfully asked the superstar to retire via an X post. The post read, “It’s time for him to ride into the sunset as a player.” Is this it? Has the ‘Father time’ won?

During his first-ever match-up alongside Bronny James, the superstar made an emotional statement in the post-game interview. He said, “I lost a lot of time because of this league, committing to this league.” However, Bron also hinted that he wasn’t done yet when he said he would “take full advantage” of the opportunity to play alongside his son to make up for the time missed.

Following that, we didn’t see them much on the court together. But the father-son duo indeed have a good time on the bench and at the LA side’s practice sessions. They even celebrated Papa LeBron’s birthday at the practice facility with the young gun, singing the universal birthday song along with other rookies.

Harden said, “It’s just, Father Time is undefeated… I know LeBron probably feel the same way… We love the game of basketball… Now we just got little nagging injuries that, when you’re younger, you probably just don’t get… It’s weird, but it’s a part of life.” They are indeed tough words for a diehard fan to digest, but it is what it is.
