Having faced Stephen Curry 37 times in his NBA career, Patrick Beverley hasn’t stopped the latter from averaging 25 points per game against him.
And yet, he considers the task of defending the Chief easy, unlike that of muzzling another star.
Generally considered the best shooter in NBA history, he therefore embodies an immense offensive threat for most of his peers.
Patrick Beverley seems particularly well placed to talk about it, he who has faced Stephen Curry no less than 37 times and who has suffered his wrath on multiple occasions.
Including on December 23, 2018, when the Warriors point guard scored 42 points against him:
The player Pat Beverley fears even more than Steph Curry
Launched on the Curry case in his podcast, Beverley should have logically considered him as a formidable opponent. However, he decided to take the opposite view:
Patrick Beverley: Steph can make one or two 3-point shots against me, but he’s going to have to make 11 layups to beat me.
Like, with me, he doesn’t touch the ball behind the arc.
It might tire me out, but it’s not difficult.

While a profile such as that of the Chef is therefore nothing to worry him about according to him, the veteran point guard claims on the other hand not to be able to lock down… Luka Doncic:
Patrick Beverley: Defending Steph Curry is easy, but a guy like Luka… He plays point guard when he’s over 2 meters tall.
One person can’t slow down Luka.
We’ve seen it I don’t know how many times.
If we want to stop him, it has to be a collective effort.
And unfortunately for Pat Bev, these collective efforts have only too rarely taken place on the part of his teams against the Slovenian genius.
The latter indeed displays an average of 29.1 points against him, and he too slammed a memorable performance of 42 points on his head… for his first game in the playoffs:
Convinced that he holds the key to stopping Stephen Curry’s offensive game, Patrick Beverley says that he has no solution to disrupt Luka Doncic in attack.
In any case, the two stars have always or almost always managed to get the upper hand on him.
