The “Bayou Barbie” is back in our newsfeeds. Weeks after leading her team to victory — wearing a full set of nails, false lashes, and a sew-in, at that — Louisiana State University college basketball player Angel Reese has just been announced as the latest brand ambassador for Mielle Organics.
“Angel is a rising star with bold beauty, confidence, strength, and must-have edges who uses and genuinely loves Mielle products,” Mielle’s founder and CEO Monique Rodriguez says in a press release. “Angel’s fun personality and ability to connect authentically with her fans make her a perfect addition to the Mielle family. She is THAT girl, and we are so thrilled to have her as our newest ambassador.”
This news comes after fans wondered why some of the best women’s basketball players in the country didn’t have beauty sponsorships — and it was something that Reese herself noticed, as well. “Athletes are the ideal beauty icons and brand ambassadors,” she says in the press release. “I put it out there that I wanted to work with more beauty brands, and I’m so excited to be working with Mielle! I’m a longtime user and fan of the brand so this is the perfect partnership.”
With Reese recently being named to Team USA’s roster for the 2023 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup, there is no doubt that more beauty sponsorships will be coming her way. Still, let her efforts be only the beginning of a longstanding relationship between women’s basketball and the beauty industry and not the end.
It’s the partnership that just seemed to make too much sense.
WNBA rookie sensation Angel Reese and Reese’s, the popular candy, are finally partnering up after fans have been calling for it, with the hooper now selling merchandise with her name on it with the candy’s iconic branding.
“The connection between my name and the Reese’s brand was obvious, but it went deeper than that,” Reese told Boardroom about the partnership. “My fans started calling themselves ‘Reese’s Pieces,’ and after I kept seeing it on social, I started engaging with some of my fans about it.”
The official name for the new candy-inspired line of Reese merchandise is being dubbed the Angel Reese x Reese’s Pieces Logo Collection, which she announced in a post on X on Wednesday morning along with a short video.

The post also teased “2 more drops to come.”
Reese had originally posted in June, “Reese’s pieces where yall at?????”
The post caught the attention of the popular Hershey brand candy’s account on X which responded to her a few days later with a post that included an image of a Reese’s Pieces candy with headband on top of it.

The Chicago Sky rookie then wore Reese’s themed sneakers for a game.
“The fans really made this happen,” Reese said. “This collection is for my Reese’s Pieces — who’ve been with me every step of the way.”
Reese has had quite an impressive rookie campaign since she was selected seventh overall at this year’s WNBA draft, becoming the fastest in league history to reach 20 double-doubles and recently scoring 19 points and pulling down a career-high 20 rebounds.
