Ariana Grande fans left bitterly disappointed by tour update

Ariana Grande reportedly has no plans to go on tour in 2025 amid the success of Wicked.

On the heels of her first ever Golden Globe nomination for her performance as Glinda, it was speculated that the 31-year-old singer would next be embarking on a concert tour.

Rumors of a potential tour started making the rounds this week on social media when fans noticed a string of shows that apparently appeared on Ticketmaster.

However, fans were left sorely disappointed when her record label Republic Records shut down the rumors and shared a message from Grande thanking her supporters.

‘There are no plans for a tour next year, but Ariana remains deeply appreciative of her fans and all their continued love, support and excitement,’ the statement read.

So for now, Grande — who recently addressed the ‘dangerous’ weight loss comments about her looking ‘skinnier’ — will not be doing a circuit in support of her seventh studio album Eternal Sunshine, which she released on March 8.

Her last tour was the Sweetener World Tour, which ran from March 2019 to December 2019. The tour supported her albums Sweetener and Thank U, Next.

Ariana Grande gets emotional as she films final ‘Wicked’ scene

It was the first album she released in over three years, following the release of Positions in 2020.

The pop star has consistently denied rumors about embarking on a world tour but she previously teased a potential mini-tour for next year.

She addressed the possibility of touring her Eternal Sunshine album by doing a small set of shows in between the release of the two-part Wicked films. (Wicked: Part One was released this year and Part Two is set to arrive on November 26, 2025.)

During an episode of the Shut Up Evan podcast in July, Grande spoke about performing in concert again and said: ‘I still want it, too.’

She told host Evan Ross Katz: ‘I think it would be a really lovely idea to be able to trickle in some show in between the two Wicked films. I think there’s a version of that that exists.’

Grande explained it would likely be a ‘mini sampling of shows’ rather than a massive world tour ‘for a multitude of reasons.’

After posing the idea of a mini-tour, she said: ‘I do think it’d be really nice to do that, and it’s something my team and I are working on coming up with options for.’

Recently, Grande said that she wanted to focus on her acting career after the major musical movie adaptation reawakened her passion for the art.

Amid the promo tour for Wicked, Grande opened up about her career plan for the next 10 years and revealed she has plans to make a shift.

While she said she is ‘always going to do pop stuff,’ she said she wants to focus more on her acting career at this point in her life.

‘I’m going to say something so scary, it’s going to scare the absolute s*** out of my fans and everyone,’ she said on the November 6 episode of Wicked costar Bowen Yang and Matt Roger’s podcast Las Culturistas.

‘I’m always going to make music, I’m always going to go onstage, I’m always going to do pop stuff, I pinky promise,’ she continued.

However, she said she does not see herself making and producing music at the same rate she did in the past decade as she will in the next 10 years.

‘I think I love acting,’ she said. ‘I love musical theater. I think reconnecting with this part of myself who started in musical theater and who loves comedy — it heals me to do that.’

Grande first began her career in entertainment while performing on Broadway at age 15.

She later rose to prominence on Nickelodeon’s Victorious before landing her own spinoff, Sam & Cat. Since then, Grande has also released seven studio albums.

The We Can’t Be Friends hitmaker explained that acting ‘feeds’ her passion in a way that is different to songwriting.

She explained that being a singer means ‘constantly reliving that one thing that you wrote the song about.’

About continuing acting, she said: ‘I think that I would love to, in whatever makes sense or whatever roles that we see fit or where I could really do a good job or honor the material. I think it’s a lot better for me.’

Recently, she also revealed why she would be hesitant to ever return as a judge and mentor on NBC’s The Voice alongside John LegendBlake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson.
