That figure made it the most-watched show on cable that night, according to Programming Insider.
It was also the second most-watched on television behind the Texas-Texas A&M game on ABC which drew 9.46 million viewers.
It should be noted the movie is not an exact rip-off of the Kelce and Swift romance, with the movie’s protagonists being neither a football player nor a musician.
Instead, it features Chiefs superfan Alana, played by Hunter King and the franchise’s Director of Fan Engagement, Derrick, played by Tyler Hynes.
However, ratings for the show have been mixed.
On IMDB it has been given a 6.5 out of 10 rating.
Writing a review on the site, one 7/10 reviewer said: “I thought this was a cute movie…
“This movie was a nice departure from the usual ‘high powered executive woman comes to a small town to fix something and falls for a small town guy’.”
A second 9/10 critic cried there was “TOO much Chiefs”, but said: “I found the movie fun and well done. But I am a romantic.”
A third reviewer who rated it as a 4/10 said: “But sorry, this was a dud. I wish I could just stop there, but alas, I must elaborate.
“If you’re not a Chiefs fan, I don’t know how you make it to the end of such a movie. They really laid it on thick.”
One 2/10 reviewer said it was, “Worse than expected”, while another said it was, “A waste of talent in the supporting cast”.
One 10/10 critic said: “This movie was so easy and fun to watch. The story could relate to many sports fans who have rituals or special clothing that they wear as a superfan of their favorite sports team.”
The movie is available to stream on Hallmark+ and Peacock.
The real-life inspiration started on July 8 2023 when Chiefs tight end Kelce attended an Eras Tour concert.
They then announced their relationship in September 2023 after the pop star surprised fans by attending a Chiefs game.
