Sabrina Carpenter admits how she really felt about her song ‘Espresso’ before it was released and became a hit
Sabrina Carpenter took a huge gamble with her summer hit, and it paid off!
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter published on December 30, the 25-year-old pop star admitted that she was doubtful if her fans would connect to her song, Espresso.
Instead, she was convinced it would be a flop.
She recalled, “I remember deciding to put this song out in the beginning of summer and thinking espresso, coffee is kind of more of a fall beverage.”
“I really didn’t know if it would connect, but the sentiment and the sound of the song and the confidence that it kind of just carries along with it was something that I really believed in,” she added.
The Juno hitmaker further explained, “So I had literally no idea that anyone would like it, but I liked it, and that was kind of all that mattered to me in that moment, and something I try to remember over and over again.”
Sabrina, who partnered with Dunkin Donuts to promote her song with a special Sabrina’s Brown Sugar Shakin’ Espresso drink, told the outlet it was “kismet the way that worked out” with the single later becoming such a huge sensation.
For the unversed, the single was part of Sabrina’s album Short n’ Sweet which landed her 2025 Grammy nominations.
