The rift between Prince Harry and the Royal Family continues but King Charles may be more receptive to mending relations than people think.

The King has reportedly not given up on his relationship with the prince but one thing stands in the way – Harry’s legal action with the government over his security detail.

The Duke of Sussex brought a case against the Home Office over the security arrangements for himself and his family when they are in the UK.

Harry contested the Home Office’s February 2020 decision that he should receive a different degree of protection when he returned to the UK after he quit his royal duties that same year.

The royal lost the case back in February and also lost his initial bid to appeal, but an order by Lord Justice Bean, dated May 23, showed that the duke was allowed to challenge High Court judge Sir Peter Lane’s dismissal at the Court of Appeal.

In a revealing Sunday Times article to mark Harry’s 40th birthday in September, royal editor Roya Nikkhah reported that King Charles is said to have not given up on his relationship with Prince Harry, but finds it “frustrating” that Harry continues to fight the king’s government in court.

The King is also said to be avoiding speaking to him because he fears Harry will try to lobby him over the security issue.‌

Sources recently told The Daily Beast that Charles will not speak to Harry on the phone and that they believe the King should use his influence to get Harry upgraded U.K. security.
