EXCLUSIVE: Strictly pro dancer Gorka Marquez popped the question to Gemma Atkinson in 2021. Now, the star has revealed when the pair will walk down the aisle.

Strictly Come Dancing favourite Gorka Marquez has teased his future wedding plans with girlfriend Gemma Atkinson.

The Spanish ballroom dancer – who is set to embark on his nationwide Speakeasy Tour with his co-star Karen Hauer – recently addressed his partner’s cheeky joke about divorce.

On Monday (January 7), Gemma and her co-host Mike Toolan returned to their Hits Radio drivetime show where they talked about ‘divorce day’.

The blonde bombshell revealed that she is in no rush to walk down the aisle as she teased: “You know what to do to avoid ‘Divorce Day’? Just don’t get married!

“Just stay boyfriend and girlfriend. That’s what we’ve done. I can walk away with no legalities if I want. Not that I want to. Or if he wanted to, he could. There’s nothing legal with us. We’ve been together nearly seven years but we’ve not been married.”

Now, speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, the pro dancer reassured fans that they will walk down the aisle one day. He told us: “We will do it, it’s just not at the moment. We are very good like this, especially with having the kids.

“Thiago is not independent yet so we don’t want to go into the wedding and be carrying him or halfway through the wedding he starts screaming that he only wants mummy, you know?”

The 34-year-old went on to tease their children’s involvement in their big day in a few years’ time. Gorka went on: “So, we will wait until he’s independent like when he’s three or four so maybe he can walk with me and bring the ring and Mia can bring the flowers, things like that.

“At the moment, he will be like, ‘Mummy, I want you’ halfway through the wedding and we will have to be like, ‘Okay, can we stop please?’”

The doting dad started dating the radio presenter back in 2018 just months after they met on the BBC dance competition. Three years later, Gorka got down on one knee and proposed to the blonde bombshell with the help of their first child Mia.

Since then, the pair have gone on to become parents again to their son Thiago who was born in July 2023.

Speaking about his upcoming tour with his TV co-star, he said fans will be treated to a “delicious dance experience” where they can “Mamba, Salsa, Charleston, Foxtrox and Samba the night away.”

Gorka gushed: “I’m so excited to be going back on the road with Karen and seeing everybody across the UK. We’re going to immerse the audience in an undercover world of dance, and I can’t wait!”
