Donald Trump gains slight edge over Kamala Harris in Georgia

Former President Donald Trump holds a slight lead over Vice President Kamala Harris in the key battleground state of Georgia, a new poll shows.

A poll by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution/University of Georgia found that Mr. Trump leads Ms. Harris 47% to 43%, respectively.

Some 8% of those polled say they are still undecided on which candidate to vote for, even with Election Day just two weeks away.

Trey Hood, a political scientist at the university, told the AJC that “neither side has this in the bag.”

“And that makes the next two weeks even more important,” Mr. Hood said.

A majority of Black voters, 74%, said they will cast their votes for Ms. Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee, while 8% said they will choose Mr. Trump, the GOP nominee. Still, 18% of Black voters remain undecided.

Mr. Trump sees support from the majority of White voters, 66%, compared to the 28% who say they will support Ms. Harris and the 4% who are undecided.

Some 55% of women say they will show up for Ms. Harris in the polls, while 59% of men say the same for Mr. Trump. More men, 11%, than women, 6%, are undecided.

Early voting in Georgia started last week, with a record-breaking number of more than 1 million getting out to vote before Nov. 5.

The poll was conducted from Oct. 7-16 with 1,000 likely Georgia voters and has a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points.
