Juan Soto’s free agency is far from over as top teams continue to fight for the star slugger. The Boston Red Sox and Soto are said to have had a three-hour meeting. The latest buzz is that Soto is impressed with the team’s free agency pitch. While there is no further information as to what happened in the meeting, it’s clear that Soto is waiting for more options.
The New York Mets and the New York Yankees are highly favored to sign Soto. Yet, MLB broadcaster Michael Kay believes that Juan Soto will choose the team that pays him the most. Kay thinks that Soto will pick even the worst team in the league if the money is involved.

In a YouTube podcast with TMKS Baseball News, Michael Kay said that Juan Soto would even pick the White Sox if they paid him the most. Kay believes that it’s all about the money for Soto.
“We know it’s only about the money. I’m so tired of this ridiculous theater that’s going to be going on for the next couple of weeks. You know what’s going to impress him? If they offer more money than anyone else,” Kay said.
Kay further stated that Soto would even pick the White Sox if they offered him more money.
“If Jerry Reinsdorf says I’m going to offer him $75 million dollars a year, for 10 years to play for the worst team in baseball history, and the next closest is Steve Cohen, who offers $60 million dollars a year for 10 years. Where do you think he’s going? He’s going to go to the White Sox for $75 million dollars a year,” Kay continued.
New York Yankees To Meet With Juan Soto On Monday
The New York Yankees will be the fourth team to meet with Juan Soto. The Toronto Blue Jays, Red Sox, and Mets have already pitched their offers. If the Yankees want Soto back, they must step up and give their best offer.
Soto had a great year in pinstripes. The Yanks might have an edge since he already knows the team’s functions. However, as Kay and many others believe, Soto could hop onto the team that pays him the most.
It’s left up to the Mets and the Yanks to deliver the best for their star slugger. Both teams are trying to sign Soto for a long-term deal.
