Key elements of the American squad crowned Olympic champion in Paris this summer, Anthony Davis and LeBron James must now focus on the upcoming NBA season of the Lakers. Before that, their coach JJ Redick spoke about them.

Although their quest for the Larry O’Brien Trophy was quickly cut short by the Nuggets, they can still be satisfied with the last few months.

Winners of the first edition of the In-Season Tournament in the NBA , Anthony Davis and LeBron James subsequently contributed to Team USA’s triumph at the Paris Olympic Games.

Enough to make the Lakers proud:

JJ Redick Cashes in on Managing LeBron James and Anthony Davis

Sufficiently rested to take part in the Olympics with their national team, Davis and James played a significant role under Steve Kerr.

Indeed, while the center alternated between starting and convincing bench appearances throughout the tournament, his sidekick was simply elected MVP.

All this, with a significant average playing time that must necessarily be taken into account by the Lakers.

However, as the NBA season approaches, JJ Redick doesn’t seem too concerned about his stars’ fatigue. He says on the LakeShow Podcast :

JJ Redick: Look, these guys are professionals in every sense of the word. Am I worried about them being ready and in shape to play on October 22? No, I’m not.

We’re going to work with my assistants to make sure they feel in full possession of their abilities for the start of the regular season. They’ll certainly participate in training camp and pre-season here in September, as well as pre-season games.

Despite their veteran status and the weight of the years accumulating on their shoulders, the two Angelino leaders should therefore answer the call for the recovery.

According to Redick, they should even resume training at the same time as their teammates, knowing that the team’s training camp is officially scheduled to begin on October 1.

Their use during preparation matches, however, probably remains to be defined.

A first element of response on this subject will be known on the night of October 4 to 5, with a first major test against the Timberwolves.

Despite a busy and somewhat grueling summer spent in the ranks of Team USA, Anthony Davis and LeBron James should be fit for the NBA’s resumption. That’s the belief shared by their Lakers coach, JJ Redick, in any case.
