The “Dream Team 2.0” achieved their goal of securing the gold medal at the Paris Olympics.
Led by LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Stephen Curry, the team faced its toughest challenge in the semifinals against Serbia, powered by MVP Nikola Jokic.
The U.S. squad trailed throughout the game, falling behind by as much as 17 points.
However, in the closing minutes, the team staged a remarkable comeback, with Curry leading the charge, scoring 36 points, and LeBron James securing his second career Olympic triple-double with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists.
Just as anecdotally, this team faced 61 NBA players during the Olympics while the original dream team only played against nine.
LeBron ad vs Father Time
LeBron James continues to defy age, posting impressive numbers at 39 years old. As he enters his 22nd NBA season, LeBron will be the oldest player in the league for the second consecutive year.
Additionally, he has the opportunity to fulfill his dream of playing alongside his son Bronny with the Lakers, while still being the league’s most popular figure.
But time waits for no one, and LeBron’s age hasn’t gone unnoticed. In a humorous new DraftKings commercial, actor Kevin Hart jokes, “Aren’t you a little too old to play football?
They want somebody to run a 40, not somebody that is 40.” The ad cleverly promotes a DraftKings season kickoff offer for new customers.
This is LeBron’s first commercial with DraftKings after signing a partnership in January.
While LeBron might have excelled as a football player had he chosen that path, he chose instead to become the NBA’s GOAT.
Having LeBron as a brand ambassador is an automatic win for any company, and we can expect to see more of him in DraftKings ads as the NFL season progresses, possibly even some focused on the NBA season starting in late October with the championsBoston Celtics against the New York Knicks and after that game the Minnesota Timberwolves in Los Angeles to face Lebron and his Lakers.
Lakers Next Season
The Lakers were eliminated from the playoffs by the Denver Nuggets for the second consecutive season.
Heading into the next season, the team has kept its core intact, with LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and D’Angelo Russell and the rotation players Austin Reaves, Cam Redish and Rui Hachimura.
The roster looks much the same as last year, as the front office, led by Rob Pelinka and Jeanie Buss, has chosen not to make any trades or big free-agent signings.
They trust in LeBron, and who wouldn’t, to bring home the title and once again tie the Celtics as the most successful franchises in NBA history.
