Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky faced a travel nightmare on Sunday that saw them still on the road at 3:30am.

The Sky were beaten 86-68 by the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday night but flew home directly after the game as they now turn their attention to Friday’s showdown with the Connecticut Sun.

But Reese, the team’s star rookie, posted on X in the early hours of Monday morning that they still weren’t home.

She wrote: ‘Why is it 3:47am and we still not home???’

Reese then directed fans who wanted to know more about what happened to teammate Diamond DeShields’ Instagram story.

DeShields posted a video in which she explained: ‘We got off the plane – well, we didn’t get off the plane. We were sitting on, like, the landing area and they told us our bus was an hour away.

‘They said we had to walk through the airport, get our luggage off of a conveyor belt and now we’re outside waiting for Ubers to take us home at whatever time it is.’

It remains unclear what time they actually completed their journey but, thankfully, the Sky now have four days off until they play again.

The Sky were beaten by the Mercury for the second time in the last four days, losing 86-68 Sunday night.

Phoenix beat the Sky 85-65 at Chicago on Thursday in the first game following the month-long Olympic break.

Chicago played on back-to-back days on the road after winning 90-86 Saturday at the Los Angeles Sparks.

The Sky trailed by as many as 20 in the first half before the Mercury led 52-35 at halftime behind Diana Taurasi’s 15 points.

Taurasi finished with 23 points and five assists and Brittney Griner had 18 points.

Reese led the Sky with 19 points and a career-high 20 rebounds. The rookie has 20 career double-doubles after 27 games, the fastest rate at the start of a career in WNBA history.

Chennedy Carter finished with 16 points, six rebounds and six assists and Kamilla Cardoso finished with 12 points.
