Angel Reese talks about her season-ending hand injury

Following her season-ending injury, Angel Reese wanted to shed some light through a TikTok video on what happened in her last game of the season

“The doctors told me that I could either not get surgery or have surgery,” Reese posted.

“The risk of not having surgery — I could literally have arthritis at 22 years old. …

The bone could literally crack and completely shatter. …

Long term, I literally could not have played anymore because this is a very hard place to heal because the blood flow is little to none.”

Angel Reese also revealed her preference not to let the injury worsen by continuing to play through the injury. The Chicago Sky are in the middle of a tight race with the ninth-place Atlanta Dream team to secure a spot in the WNBA playoffs.

Reese underwent surgery on Tuesday and will be wearing a hard cast for four weeks. She will eventually transition to a soft cast in the two weeks following that.

In her final WNBA rookie game, Reese had an incredible performance to lead her team to a much-needed victory before the injury. She finished with a double-double outing of 24 points (60.0% shooting) and 12 rebounds.

In the 34 games she played this season, Angel Reese averaged 13.6 points (39.1% shooting) and 13.1 rebounds.
