Bono dodged a kiss from Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs during an awkward encounter on stage at the at the 2014 Golden Globes.
A clip of the awkward incident resurfaced online and went viral on social media following the 54-year-old disgraced music mogul’s arrest and sex trafficking charges.
In the video, Combs was onstage to present the Best Original Song Award at the 2014 award ceremony.
The win went to the U2 frontman, 64, and his bandmates for their song Ordinary Love that they penned for the 2013 epic movie Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.
When they took the stage to accept their award, U2’s guitarist The Edge, 63, appeared content to hug Combs.
Then, the disgraced rapper turned to hug Bono and appeared to lean in to give him a kiss on the cheek.
At the last moment, the rock star seemingly pulled away and turned to go to the mic to give their acceptance speech.
According to a report from RadarOnline, Bono ‘still shudders’ thinking about the moment on stage.
‘Loads of fans are saying the obvious discomfort with Bono’s body language all those years ago is a sign he knew there was something not right with Diddy — to say the least,’ an insider told the outlet.
The source clarified that Bono did not know about what Combs was doing nor the accusations against him at the time.
‘There’s no way he knew about the depths of his depravity or he would have spoken up, but there was no way Bono was letting him anywhere near him, even 10 years ago.’
The insider added, emphasizing: ‘He still shudders at the thought of it.’
Several social media users took to X, formerly Twitter, to share their reactions to the resurfaced clip.
One X user pointed out that it appeared like Bono ‘rejected [Diddy’s] kiss.’
Another person found the awkward moment funny and tweeted: ‘Diddy looking around to see if anyone saw him getting rejected by Bono.’
‘I’m no U2 fan but that cringey awkward hug between Bono and Diddy at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards was hilarious,’ one X user wrote in concurrence.
Another social media user questioned why ‘Diddy wasn’t liked by Bono’ and asked: ‘What did Bono know?’
Similarly, one tweet read: ‘Bono didn’t like Diddy, wonder why, that was painfully awkward to watch but did he know something at this time, oh, and did Diddy just try [to] kiss Bono on the lips?’
Another X user penned that it was ‘obvious’ that Bono ‘knew when he shrugged P. Diddy off what the Diddler was like.’

Last month, he was arrested last month on shocking sex trafficking and racketeering charges and is being held in a notorious New York City jail without bond.
His case was reassigned to federal Judge Arun Subramanian on Thursday without explanation, reported CNN.
Initially Judge Andrew Carter presided over the case and denied him bail twice despite the rapper using both his and his mother’s homes in Miami — worth $50 million — as collateral.
Combs has pleaded not guilty to the charges that detail allegations dating back to 2008 that accuses him of abusing, threatening and coercing women for years ‘to fulfill his sexual desires, protect his reputation, and conceal his conduct.’
U.S. Attorney Damian Williams revealed what federal agents found during the March raid of Combs’ Miami residence including confiscated unmarked AR-15s, ammunition, as well as 1,000 bottles of baby oil and other lubricant.
They also revealed evidence had been gathered of Combs’ long-rumored sex parties — which he referred to as ‘freak offs’ — during their raids on his Los Angeles and Miami homes, finding, ‘electronic devices that contain images and videos of the freak offs, with multiple victims.’
An additional 120 victims came forward last Tuesday accusing him of sexual abuse, with several underage victims, including a 9-year-old, among them.
The claims were made by Texas lawyer Tony Buzbee who announced he’s representing 120 new victims who he believes have legitimate cases against the rapper turned media mogul.
