When the Los Angeles Lakers took Bronny James with the No. 55 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, Carmelo Anthony’s son, Kiyan Anthony, thought it was “crazy” … in a good way, that is.
Speaking on his dad’s 7PM in Brooklyn podcast, Kiyan was asked what it’s like to see James get drafted by the Lakers and play in the NBA Summer League.
Their fathers are good friends, and the two youngsters did face each other once in high school, so they will always be connected and compared in one way or another.
For Kiyan, though, Bronny making his way to the NBA is nothing short of inspiring. He also found it incredible that Bronny gets the chance to play with his father, LeBron James.
“Nah, it was fire. Just to know that he started it and now that I got a chance to follow, not follow him but get to where he’s at in the league.
That’s fire. I texted him and everything…Especially him playing with his pops. That’s crazy. That’s so crazy to me,” Kiyan shared in the podcast, a Wave Sports + Entertainment Original.
Kiyan also couldn’t help but think about the possibility of him and Bronny facing each other once he makes the NBA.
The 17-year-old Anthony is a four-star prospect and is entering his senior year at Long Island Lutheran High School. With that said, it shouldn’t be long before he makes his way to the league.
“But yeah, it is like we could play against each other, like we played against each other in high school.
I was only a freshman or a sophomore and he was a senior, but now that we could get to the league and play against each other, it’s crazy to just think about,” Kiyan added.

It remains to be seen how Bronny James will fare in his first season, but one thing is certain: Kiyan Anthony will be closely watching him.
