Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark and Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese are two of the biggest names in the WNBA. Even with their stellar play in the first half of their rookie seasons, both Clark and Reese were not selected for Team USA for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Although the USA women’s national basketball team is likely to win gold without the two rookies, Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green seems to think the USA made a mistake by not adding them.
In the most recent episode of ‘The Draymond Green Show,’ Green revealed why Clark and Reese should have been added to the Olympic squad.
“I think Caitlin Clark should have been on the USA team,” Green said. “It’s great for the brand… It must be about spreading this globally, and she’s the biggest global star in women’s basketball. Just from a pure branding and marketing standpoint, Caitlin’s the biggest. For her not to be on the team. Angel Reese not to. I think for what they’re doing for women’s basketball, that should matter.”
Clark and Reese have brought a spotlight to the WNBA that it has never seen before, selling out games and merchandise on a weekly basis.
“And by the way, what they showed you in this half-a season is that ‘I’m going to be one of them ones, so it’s okay to bet on me right now,'” Green said. “Angel Reese is leading the league in double-doubles and broke the all-time record. Caitlin Clark is leading the league in assists on a historical pace. They’ve shown you we gonna be one of them ones.”
Clark and Reese have both broken WNBA records in their first season on their way to an All-Star appearance. Clark recorded the most assists in a single game in league history and also the most assists by a rookie in the All-Star game.
Reese broke the all-time record for most consecutive double-doubles with 15, passing WNBA legend Candace Parker. She also became the first rookie ever to record a double-double in the All-Star game.

Green has played for the Warriors since 2012. Along with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, he has helped lead Golden State to four NBA championships, creating one of the best dynasties the league has ever seen.
Team USA is headed to the Olympic finals after beating Australia in the semis on Friday. They will face the winner of the France vs. Belgium game on Sunday, August 11.
