Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese has quickly made a name for herself as the WNBA’s double-double queen, consistently setting records in the statistic. She’s gained a fan in NBA legend Kevin Garnett, who likened her to another former NBA power forward.
Highlighting Angel Reese’s knack for grabbing offensive rebounds, Garnett noted that the rookie is showing flashes of Shawn Marion, who averaged 8.7 rebounds including 2.3 offensive boards per game throughout his 16-year career.
Garnett shared this insight in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating:
“Yup… I see it. (Angel Reese) got an elite 2nd jump on the glass like (Shawn Marion).. 20 boards and damn near 20 points? Face up game looked legit last night too 🤦🏾♂️ 💯”

Angel Reese recorded 19 points and 20 rebounds in the Sky’s 86-68 loss to the Phoenix Mercury over the weekend. She shot 50% from the field and snagged 10 offensive rebounds.
This game marked only the seventh time in her 27-game rookie season that she shot at least 50% from the field. Critics have pointed to Reese’s inefficiency despite her role as a post player, as she’s currently shooting 39.8% from the field.
