Having played against Stephen Curry 52 times on the NBA court, LeBron James didn’t wait for the leader to arrive in the league to find out.

He even got involved in the subject of his future after attending one of his NCAA matches.

In a very rich 2009 Draft, he appeared to be something of an outlier.

Stephen Curry was therefore only selected as the 7th pick, he who was surrounded by doubts concerning his ability to adapt to the NBA .

This, while his performances at university left no one indifferent, and not even LeBron James who had attended several of his games.

LeBron James’ Initial Opinion on Stephen Curry

Always attentive to the prospects that he could find sooner or later in the league, LeBron had not escaped Curry ‘s prowess on the NCAA circuit.

He had notably taken advantage of a trip by the Cavaliers to Detroit to observe him during the March Madness clash between Davidson and Wisconsin.

Questioned a few minutes later in his car, he had then been dithyrambic about the Chief:

LeBron James: Stephen Curry? I think he’s going to be good in the league, yeah.

He knows all the ropes of basketball being the son of a former NBA player, Dell Curry.

He’s been through a good school. Anyway, he’s talented. He’s good. I was impressed.

He played really well against Wisconsin’s great defense, and we all know how tough they are. And yet, he destroyed them.

On a mission that year, Steph had indeed left no chance to his opponents by scoring 33 of his team’s 73 points.

All this, with an already insolent 3-point shooting (6/11) despite the physical challenge imposed by his defenders.

No wonder, then, that the King was thrilled by his exploits, against which he has so many times revealed himself to be without a solution on the NBA courts.

Like NBA scouts, LeBron James didn’t need much time to realize Stephen Curry’s immense talent in the NCAA. However, he easily imagined him finding his place in the league and subsequently won his case.
