The LeBron era is in its final stretch. How long will he continue? 2 years? 3 years? And then what?
Who’s going to be ‘the face’ of the league? Who’s going to carry on the King’s hoops legacy? Bronny is already entering the league and by the time his Dad closes the closet on his jersey, Bryce James might find himself in the pro-league hemisphere as well.
That’s not it. The youngest boy in the James household will probably be accompanied by his rival, Kiyan Anthony, son of Carmelo Anthony.
But before the speculative scenario unfolds in a few years, the two faced off during the Nike EYBL tour where Bryce represented the Strive For Greatness (SFG) AAU squad and Kiyan played for Team Melo. In a recently released video by Overtime,
Melo Jr. can be seen all pumped up about his encounter with Bryce, and with LeBron and Carmelo in attendance, the 17-year-old made a bold vow.
The video opens with Kiyan saying, “LeBron’s there, my pop’s there. I can’t let Bryce outplay me. Bry, he a sharpshooter, he really don’t miss.” The 16-minute footage contained various moments from their duel between the respective teams, Kiyan’s clothing brand details, and his new tattoo of his mother Lala. Melo’s son further explained that he knew they needed to be physical to deal with SFG.
Despite taking an early lead, Team Melo ended up on the losing side and Kiyan credited that to Bryce’s legendary dad.
According to Kiyan, LeBron was scouting his moves and relaying the information to his son to minimize the threat. “Cuz he definitely knew where I was going, what hand I was going,” Melo’s son revealed.
Despite the result, the faceoff provided a glimpse of the future for which both the youngsters are getting ready. Talking about it, Kiyan detailed, “[My father] never pushes me to go to Syracuse just because his name is on the gym. … He knows that I’m my own person. I’ve just got to make my own decision at the end of the day,” addressing his college decision.
The same cannot be said about Bryce James, though. While Bron doesn’t create any pressure on his kids, all the drama over the summer that burdened Bronny showed the exact magnitude of pressure that comes with the ‘James’ surname.
But that doesn’t put the youngest James boy off his confident stride, as he recently made a startling claim about his talent!
Bryce James backs his skills against NBA Champion father, LeBron
LeBron James could be an on-court threat to NBA players, but if it comes to his younger son, Bryce, the King would fall flat. The bold claim was made by none other than junior. Following SFG’s victory, a clip of Bryce went viral on X, where the 17-year-old revealed advice given to him by his father.
“You know he always tells me just go out there, have fun, stay aggressive, shots will come to you even if they’re not falling, just keep shooting, and you’re gonna make it,” Bryce said. To spice it up, the interviewer asked him who would win in a one-on-one basketball game between him and LeBron. Without a second thought, Bryce said, “Me.”
But too bad for Bryce James, LeBron doesn’t do 1v1. Austin Reaves recently revealed, “He don’t play 1v1. He said 1v1 is not real basketball.” So I guess we’ll never know who actually takes the dub between the father-son duo.
King James paved the way for his elder son, Bronny, who would soon be joining him on the court, dawning the Purple and Gold colors. Bryce, on the other hand, is expected to follow in the same footsteps as his father and brother. While chances are slim that we’ll get to see Bron sharing the court with Bryce, the possibility can’t be discarded altogether. After all, we’re talking about LeBron James!
