A father-son duo the likes of which the NBA has never seen

LeBron James emboldened by an unexpected new development concerning Bronny James

It is the storyline that everyone wants to follow and see in the upcoming NBA season: LeBron James and Bronny James playing together for the Los Angeles Lakers and thus becoming the first active father-son duo to take the court at the same time.

League history is likely to be made this season — it has been regarded as inevitable.

But most experts and key figures in Los Angeles believe Bronny has some work to do before he can step into a viable nightly role in the NBA.

Of course, LeBron has been at this a long time — the NBA’s all-time leading scorer is entering his 22nd season, and he has openly admitted that his career is winding down.

When will LeBron and Bronny have their “moment”?

According to ESPN NBA insider Zach Lowe, the Lakers have a potential “workaround” they could easily use to ensure that LeBron doesn’t have to wait long at all to play with his son in a regular-season game.

Appearing on The Bill Simmons PodcastLowe said he expects the Lakers to throw caution to the wind and bring Bronny off the bench during LA‘s season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Oct. 22.

That will guarantee the Jameses can have their “moment together” before Bronny is more than likely headed to the South Bay Lakers to continue developing as a player.

For LeBron — a four-time NBA MVP and a four-time champion — sharing the court with his 19-year-old son is the last box he has to check before he brings down the curtain on a legendary career.

And if Lowe is correct, the King will get his wish on opening night of the new season.
