Winner of the Paris Olympic Games, the 2024 American team has therefore imitated that of 1992 and its legendary squad. But then, which one deserves to be called the best? Tracy McGrady cut to the chase and made some people unhappy.

Four-time reigning Olympic champions, they were looking to make it five when they arrived in France this summer.

The United States and their basketball stars were actually the favorites before the start of the Paris Olympic Games, and for good reason.

The roster put together for the occasion by Steve Kerr was indeed intended to be filled with big names, and therefore surrounded by immense expectations across the Atlantic.

As soon as the Team USA roster was announced, many people compared it to the legendary 1992 Dream Team and its slew of Hall of Famers.

Regardless, most observers expected total domination, like a very demanding Shaquille O’Neal .

However, despite their triumph at the end of the tournament, LeBron James and his teammates were pushed to their limits.

Tracy McGrady Chooses Between Dream Team and Avengers

After being pushed around by Serbia in the semi-finals of the Games, the Americans were also pushed around by France in the gold medal match.

Needless to say, their journey was not as smooth as that of their illustrious predecessors in Barcelona 32 years earlier.

As such, when it came to choosing the best of the two teams on Stat Sports in the last few hours, Tracy McGrady didn’t hesitate for long:

Tracy McGrady: The best one was the Dream Team. Everybody that got on the court against the Dream Team was intimidated. That’s why they only had 50-point blowouts. Now, opponents aren’t intimidated anymore.

For Tracy McGrady, the outrageous dominance displayed by the Dream Team at the 1992 Olympics would actually make them a better team than Team USA at the Paris Games. An opinion that the former winger will have to defend better than that.
