If the Timberwolves had a bad evening this Tuesday with a defeat on the Blazers’ court, Rudy Gobert nevertheless obtained compensation thanks to… Stephen Curry.
An indirect revenge that Internet users did not fail to comment on.
Rudy Gobert had a complicated match against the Blazers, this Tuesday, as part of the NBA Cup.
In addition to the thrashing suffered by his Timberwolves (108-122), he thus only compiled 9 points (2/3 shooting) and 8 rebounds in a little over 32 minutes.
Fortunately, the rest of the evening offered him a small consolation prize.
Stephen Curry comes to Rudy Gobert’s rescue
In parallel with this poster between Minnesota and Portland, a real shock took place in the West and opposed the Warriors to the Mavericks.
The opportunity for Klay Thompson to meet his former teammates, but also for Stephen Curry to remind that the Chase Center remains his property.
In an impressive end to the match on his part, the Chief notably signed this most insolent 3-point shot:
Unsurprisingly, many fans focused on this umpteenth flash of genius from Steph.
Others, however, preferred to focus on Dallas’ defense and the switch that put Dereck Lively II in an uncomfortable one-on-one situation.
At 6’11”, the young center had a hard time keeping up with the pace set by his opposite number and didn’t contest his shot until much too late.
Problem: Lively positions himself as a regular critic of Gobert and had notably attacked him for his defense of a 1-vs-1 against Luka Doncic a few months ago.
The fact that he finds himself in a similar situation and that he is unable to stop his opponent has therefore been savagely pointed out by several Internet users:
@JJETSFAN:Lively is funny because he made fun of Rudy for what Doncic did to him, and Curry did the same thing to his face.😂
@MusafaJones:I hope you will harass Lively like you did with Gobert on the same situation💀
@The_Barftender: LOL Lively tried to shoot Rudy because he supposedly can’t defend Luka in isolation. You better stand by your words and DEFEND
@dlowrld:When it was Rudy who suffered this against Luka everyone wanted to drag him through the mud but now everyone only talks about Steph’s talent and nothing about Lively’s defense😂😂
@jadensity: And to think that redneck Lively tried to put Rudy down
Ruthless towards Rudy Gobert and his defense that he seems to consider overrated, Dereck Lively II did not really do better than what he criticized the Frenchman for against Stephen Curry. The French pivot can therefore consider having won a small victory this Tuesday.
