In a league where tempers can quickly flare, Stephen Curry manages to keep his cool in almost every circumstance.
However, he admits to losing his cool following a remark about… his wife, Ayesha.
Rather than scattering and wasting his energy in arguments without real interest, he prefers to conserve it in order to shine on the court.
Stephen Curry therefore rarely finds himself in scuffles, including in an atmosphere as tense as that of the playoffs.
An atmosphere that he discovered in 2013 with the Warriors, during a first round won against Denver and during which he greatly shone:
Stephen Curry’s Rare Ayesha-Related Crackdown
Curry, who won that series against the Nuggets, could now have a happy memory of it.
However, in his podcast Heat Check , he recalled a heated episode that took place at the Pepsi Center at the time:
Stephen Curry: In my career, I’ve probably only had two real interactions with fans that I felt crossed the line.
One of them was in Denver after Game 5 of the 2013 series.
We had just lost and I was walking towards the tunnel when someone said something about Ayesha.
When I heard that, I felt compelled to fight back. I was like, “Say it to my face!” and I came back to him pointing.
People must have grabbed me because after the loss, I was already pissed off.
So when he said that about Ayesha, I was like, “I need to turn around and fight back.”
The fan kind of froze and Carl Landry stole his towel. It was phenomenal.
Obviously irritated after the setback suffered by the Dubs during Game 5, Steph could not let these words about his wife go, whatever their real content.
A scene of tension that was memorable to say the least for a player who is usually so calm.
Usually unflappable in the context of an NBA game, Stephen Curry nevertheless vividly remembers losing his cool after Game 5 against Denver in 2013. Moral of the story: it’s best not to try to tease the Chief by mentioning Ayesha.
