The Chicago Sky began the second half of the WNBA season on the wrong note, dropping to the Phoenix Mercury at home.

During the 85-65 loss to the Mercury, Angel Reese set a franchise record for the most offensive rebounds in a single season in the Sky’s franchise history.

She currently has 118 offensive rebounds and counting. Reese finished the loss to Phoenix with 11 points and 15 rebounds.

After the game, a reporter asked Reese about her prestigious accomplishment, but the rookie made it clear that she’s more worried about the results of the game than individual accolades.

“I don’t want to hear about no record, man,” Reese said.

Heading into the matchup against Phoenix, Reese was averaging 13.5 points and 11.9 rebounds per game.

She’s been a monster on the glass all season, ranked as the No. 2 player in terms of average rebounds in the WNBA, behind MVP frontrunner and Las Vegas Aces center A’ja Wilson.

Reese and the Sky have struggled to find a steady drive, but the rookie has been their most consistent piece, next to talented guard Chennedy Carter.

Carter, the Sky’s leading scorer with 17.2 points per game, missed the Sky’s matchup against the Mercury due to a non-COVID illness, so that could have played a large role in Chicago’s loss.

Reese showed clear frustration after the game, but she’ll have an opportunity to get back in the win column relatively quickly.
