Durant sat out Monday’s 92-88 win over Germany despite coach Steve Kerr being hopeful he could get some minutes.

The 35-year-old suffered the calf strain while training in mid-June.

He underwent an MRI when he joined Team USA earlier this month and is now considered “day-to-day.”

“I talked to him today, he said he was feeling better,” Kerr confirmed on Monday.

“We’re hoping he can put together a couple of practices in a row and a scrimmage and get through that well and then he’ll be available for us. It’s kind of day-to-day.

“I was hoping he would get a game in [in London] but it just didn’t work out.”

Durant remains a doubt for the opening pool game against Serbia on July 28, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst.

“I think [Team USA] gonna be playing Serbia without Kevin Durant,” Windhorst said late Monday night.

“Steve Kerr met with him today and they decided he needs more time with that strained calf.”

Despite Durant’s lingering issue, his place on the Olympic roster appears secure.

Kerr was emphatic in ruling out any chance of the 14-time All-Star going home early.

“There’s no thought of replacing Kevin,” Kerr added.

“He’s one of the most skilled players of all time. So, we hope he comes back soon, and I think he’ll fit right in.”

Durant was cheered out onto the court ahead of USA’s win over Germany at the O2 Arena in London.

He shot some hoops with his teammates before the tip-off and didn’t appear to be in any discomfort.

Durant has won gold in 2012, 2016, and 2020 as a veteran of three Olympics.

He is the USA’s top scorer of all time in Olympic basketball.

Fans are desperate to see him taken to the court as the USA targets a fifth consecutive gold in Paris.

“Team USA needs Durant, simple as that,” wrote one fan on X.

“The man carried the USA Team in the last Olympics and you want them to replace him? You want to replace Captain America?” added a second.
