Patrick Beverley dans le vestiaire

After spending 12 seasons in the NBA, playing for 7 different franchises, Patrick Beverley joined the Israeli league.

In a recent interview, he spoke about his new life, as well as the Jewish community… Warning, sensitive statement.

This summer, the NBA saw one of its strongest, but also divisive, personalities leave.

Patrick Beverley was not necessarily the most talented player on the court, but he was known for his fighting spirit and defensive skills.

He was also capable of outwitting his opponents with his trash-talking.

Except that at 36, the former Bucks guard dog no longer took on exactly the same role as before.

Having become a free agent, he needed to find a way out. So he signed with the Israeli club Hapoel Tel-Aviv.

The Chicago native began his basketball career abroad, and he will likely also finish it across the Atlantic. Given the current geopolitical context, this decision had however raised questions for some.

In an episode of the “PatBev Podcast”, the leader spoke out on the subject.

Patrick Beverley talks about his new life in Israel
Not all Jews are stingy, the man who gave me this contract was rather generous.

Patrick Beverley’s statement is probably a bit clumsy, but he explains that the financial aspect is one of the reasons that pushed him to join the Israeli championship.

Following the astonishment that his choice provoked across the Atlantic, he also wanted to set the record straight.

Public enemy No. 1, Joel Embiid talks about the victory of the Blues: “I didn’t…

That’s what people don’t understand, I go there to play basketball.

What I’ve always done is put the ball in the back of the net, right? In my European career, I was MVP of the same league that I’m returning to.

Obviously, when you get to the NBA, you have to play different roles.

But now, I’m returning to a role where when there are 7 seconds left to play, they give me the ball and watch me play.

I can do isolations, stepbacks, I play basketball in the end.

Used to changing teams regularly when he was still playing in the American league, the former Rockets player arrives in his new home for nearly $2 million a year.

Like his early career on the European continent, he will be considered a star there.

I played a big role, I had a phenomenal career in the NBA when I was there.

I don’t want to stay in the corner. I played with the Bucks, we won the fifth game of the first round of the playoffs, I had the ball in my hands, I had a double-double.

But in the sixth game, we were in good shape, but I no longer had the ball in my hands. It’s not because I did something wrong, but because it’s the hierarchy.

Since the interest of NBA franchises in Patrick Beverley was increasingly weak, the latter decided to join the Israeli championship.

There, he will receive a juicier salary and will play in a much more important role.
