Le joueur français Guerschon Yabusele, ici sous les couleurs de la franchise NBA des Philadelphia 76ers

It has been a few days now since the arrival of Guerschon Yabusele at the 76ers was announced in the NBA, without having been made official by the franchise yet.

Should we be worried? A renowned insider within the league has clarified things.

Beyond the magnificent opportunity to represent one’s country on the most prestigious of stages, the Olympic Games allow its participants to display their talent to the eyes of the entire world.

This is what happened for example for Guerschon Yabusele, whose viral exploits against LeBron James and so many others caught the eye of the NBA.

It is clear that they even turned his career upside down.

Indeed, just a few hours after the conclusion of the tournament, rumors of interest from franchises in the league towards the French center appeared.

One of them seems to be on the verge of leading to a signing, since an agreement has reportedly been reached between the player and the 76ers. Enough to ignite a good number of observers — including a certain Evan Fournier — who are nevertheless starting to get impatient.

Guerschon Yabusele’s return to the NBA delayed, the explanations
On paper, the fit between Yabusele and Philadelphia seems obvious, which most certainly explains the big man’s choice to join this destination.

But while American experts generally share this opinion, an official announcement is slow in coming to definitively close this saga.

In his podcast “No Cap Room”, Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports took it upon himself to reveal the behind the scenes:

Former No. 1 Draft Pick Kenyon Martin Cashes on Guerschon Yabusele: “For Me, It’s…

Jake Fischer: A priori, Guerschon Yabusele should use $1.6M of the $2.1M he will receive next year in Philly to buy out the last year of his contract with Real Madrid.

In other words, he would ultimately only receive $500,000 for the season and would write off a huge sum of money.

However, I am told that Guerschon’s camp and Real Madrid are working to find a fair solution.

So I don’t think there is anything abominable about this case and that we should worry about Guerschon Yabusele’s wallet.

Negotiations would thus continue between Guerschon and his current club Real Madrid in order to find common ground and release him from his contract.

It would therefore not be time to panic for Sixers fans, who would rather have reason to rejoice according to Fischer:

Jake Fischer: I think it’s an incredible signing for Philly and for Guerschon too.

After all, what better place to come back to the league than a franchise that is playing for the title and that clearly had a deficit at position 4. Is there a world where he will finish games if he plays like he did at the Olympics? I don’t think it’s crazy to consider it.

Before seeing his comeback to the NBA finally made official, Guerschon Yabusele and his entourage are therefore trying to come to an agreement with Real Madrid for his release.

The 76ers, for their part, would not have to worry about the arrival of their French recruit.
