Evan Fournier (gauche) sous les couleurs de l'équipe de France et Kevin Durant (droite) avec le maillot de Team USA

Few were betting on a victory for France against Canada this Tuesday, and yet, the Blues managed to defy the odds. After the victory, Kevin Durant shared his opinion on this team.

So far, life has not been easy for the French team in this Olympic tournament.

Although it has achieved two victories that allowed it to qualify for the next round, we cannot ignore the difficulties encountered in the group stage.

After a sluggish victory against Brazil, the Blues gave themselves a big scare against Japan.

Against the Germans, on the other hand, the French supporters could only see the extent of the damage.

Following this defeat against the reigning world champions, Evan Fournier even allowed himself some criticism of the collective strategy and the management of Vincent Collet.

In addition to the worrying performances, the locker room seemed divided.

Suffice to say that this triumph against Canada surprised more than one person, except perhaps Kevin Durant, who won 122-87 with Team USA against the Seleçao.

Kevin Durant is straightforward about the level of the Blues
The French are certainly Olympic vice-champions, but since then, they have not been able to maintain the same level that they displayed in Tokyo in 2021.

The objective for them will be to obtain a new medal, with possibly a rematch in the final against the Americans. And according to Kevin Durant, the Parisian crowd will play a big role in the journey of the 2013 European champions.

Tony Parker cash on Team USA: “European basketball, they…

They played excellent basketball today.

They feed off the energy of the crowd. This kind of thing gives us a boost.

They had a difficult match against Germany in the group stage.

They know that it is quite difficult against them at the beginning.

We’ll see how it goes in the semi-finals. But you know, it’s a different competition now.

It’s a different story. I’m sure they’ll be ready to play.

Right from the start of the game against the Canadiens, Victor Wembanyama’s team showed an aggressiveness and involvement that was very different from previous games.

After the first quarter, they were already leading 23-10.

And while the Spurs superstar struggled to get into the rhythm offensively, scoring 7 points on 2/8 shooting, his teammates were able to raise their level.

So it was the team that made this success possible.

Preferred to Rudy Gobert in the starting 5, Guerschon Yabusele ended up as the team’s top scorer with 22 points on 6/9.

Hot-headed, especially at the start of the game and a surprise starter, Isaïa Cordinier recorded 20 points on 6/10 shooting.

And we will also note the great performances of Evan Fournier and Mathias Lessort who respectively added 15 and 13 points.

This French team never ceases to surprise us, both good and bad.

Against Canada, it showed one of its best faces in a long time.

And according to Kevin Durant, this victory could even be a turning point for the Frenchies.
