While criticism has been leveled at Team USA and more specifically Steve Kerr’s management, others are rather happy, like Kevin Garnett.
The former Celtic was not unhappy with the turn of events.
Team USA did win the gold medal in Paris, but it was quite difficult. Steve Kerr’s men had to battle against Serbia in the semi-finals, then against the Blues in order to validate their success in the final.
It was not easy but the objective was achieved, even if there was a lot of controversy along the way.
The most important undoubtedly concerning Jayson Tatum.
The Celtics’ best player and recent NBA champion, everyone expected the winger to be used often at the Olympic Games: that is not the case.
Steve Kerr put him on the bench, due to too much competition according to him.
Except that the coach has been subjected to a lot of criticism, including that of the player’s mother, furious for her son.

But there is one person who is happy with the situation: Kevin Garnett.
Celtics legend, the latter was pleased with Kerr’s management, especially because Tatum needed rest according to him after a trying campaign in the NBA.
This sidelining is therefore not a bad thing for him, as he explains in his recent podcast “All The Smoke”.

Yes, Tatum’s season has been a trying one, between the Celtics’ title in June and the preparation with Team USA in the wake, all to finish in August.
The Celtics will probably want to monitor that closely.

That wasn’t the goal for Steve Kerr, but the result remains the same.
