With the crazy number of superstars that make up the American selection for these Paris Olympic Games, the comparison with the Dream Team was inevitably inevitable.

The question of the level of players from different generations has perhaps never been so divisive.

While some continue to argue over who is the greatest player in history, others debate over the best American selection of all time.

For a long time, the Dream Team was considered by almost everyone as such. Today, opinions are more divided.

Recently, it is the United States team competing at the Paris Olympic Games that is being compared to the legendary 1992 squad, by experts and fans alike.

In the absence of being able to organize a duel, Draymond Green imagined a scenario where LeBron James’ gang would face Michael Jordan’s.

In his eponymous show, the Warriors superstar even designated a winner.

The 2024 team is definitely being compared to the Dream Team.

And frankly, I take the current team every day.

I think the 2024 team beats the Dream Team five times out of seven. You have to respect the Dream Team.

They have GOATs, we get that. They have Hall of Famers, we get that.

I just think the versatility of this team, the star power, the scoring ability is better.

I don’t think the Dream Team can do anything about that.

If the Dream Team had Shaquille O’Neal in its ranks and not Christian Laettner, it might be a different story.

That’s why I don’t think the Dream Team can come close.

I wouldn’t even say they’d do worse by losing by 10 points. I’d call Team USA 2024 a 10+ point win.

And of course, that statement from the 2017 DPOY has been a divisive one on the Twittersphere.

Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, David Robinson, Patrick Ewing, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, Chris Mullin, Clyde Drexler, John Stockton, all voted top 75 players. The greatest team ever assembled, in basketball terms.

The 2008 and 1996 Olympic teams are the closest.

The latter team struggled against South Sudan last week.

Team USA 2024 and the Dream Team have been pitted against each other regularly lately.

But if this debate remains very divisive, Draymond Green is unanimous: For him, the current United States team would be largely victorious against that of Barcelona ’92.
