Delta Airlines has been serving sports teams in the USA for a long time as they have flown 75 Championship teams including the Las Vegas Aces last season.
The airline apart from that also shares a strong bond with the WNBA in the charter flight relationship. To top that, the airline now expanded its repertoire and responsibilities as it became the official partner of the league, the announcement of which was made on Monday.
However, the WNBA stars Angel Reese, A’ja Wilson, and the Aces’ players could be unhappy with the decision. While the new partnership has come in good time, let us have a look at why Reese and Wilson & Co. might not welcome the new decision with complete enthusiasm and zest.
Why must Angel Reese, A’ja Wilson, and Co. be disappointed?
Due to the global outage in July, the airlines misplaced Reese’s baggage as she was traveling to London. Following this, Reese was extremely disappointed and took to X to share her woes. “@Delta yall HAVE to do better”¦. no way i still don’t have my bags.,” Reese had tweeted in July.

The Chi-Town Barbie had taken a flight to the UK to watch the Olympic preparation game between Team USA and Germany. However, due to the global outage, she was one of the thousands affected.
But this wasn’t a one-off incident. The airlines had also disappointed Wilson & Co. Wilson and her team had to suffer a flight delay while playing the preseason game at the Colonial Life Arena in May this year. The commercial flight was late by at least 3 hours which didn’t go down well with Wilson and her team. “these delays are OD we could have driven from Washington to Columbia at this point “¦” Wilson had stated in a post.
While the flight from DC to Columbia can roughly take about 90 minutes, if traveling by road, the time taken can be around 7.5 hours. And when the flight was delayed for three hours, Wilson opined that the second option would have been better. But did Delta solve the problems?
The aftermath of the problems
Initially, Delta, as per Reese, gave her $100 in euros for shopping. But, the next day after the luggage was misplaced, the airlines through their consistent efforts found it for Reese. The Chi-Town Barbie who had taken to the social media platform X to share her woes with her fans, once again tweeted on the social media site to give all the positive news. “FINALLY GOT MY BAGS! LOOKS WILL NOW BE SERVED! thank you @Delta,” Reese tweeted.
The 22-year-old afterward her bags were found enchanted fans with her off-court looks and stunning dressing sense. But, the case wasn’t the same for Wilson & Co. as they had to alter their plans. The Aces landed late on Thursday night, hence, their Saturday preseason game went as usual.
However, their practice session which was supposed to take place on early Friday afternoon had to be postponed to late afternoon that day. Not only Wilson but also her teammate Chelsea Gray expressed her anger by enumerating that the league was giving a charter flight for the first time to all its 12 teams but it was delayed.
Hopefully, Reese, Wilson, and her Aces’ teammates will be able to put the past behind them, and wholeheartedly welcome this decision. Meanwhile, Delta can also once again take steps to improve its facilities and patch up with the superstars.
