The 28th WNBA season brought about a lot of changes for the league. One of them was the pay disparity. To counter that, the athletes recently opted out of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
While a lot of players have previously voiced their opinions regarding it, our very own Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese did not stay back either.
Though other celebrities haven’t denied the issues due to low salaries, a $100 million TV personality has come to the fore to counter Reese’s argument.
On Saturday, American businesswoman Barbara Corcoran sat down with TMZ Sports when she reflected on Reese’s rent issues. However, contrary to expectations, the real estate brokerage, The Corcoran Group’s, owner did not look to side with the Chi-Town Barbie.
“$8,000 a month in Chicago, she’s lucky she gets a kitchen for it… Thank God she’s not moving to New York. Here, she’d pay $12,000 for the same apartment. So, it could be worse.,” Corcoran confirmed while dismissing her problems, expressing that “paying $8,000 a month in the Windy City ain’t too shabby!!”

Corcoran was a diner waitress who started her own real estate firm with a loan of $1,000 in 1973. The Corcoran Group, despite Barbara’s multiple efforts, failed in front of big opponents until she popularized The Corcoran Report.
She would mail every prospective client, especially those writing about real estate in ads and newspapers, a report that listed the average price of an apartment in New York.
Cut to 2001, Barbara sold her firm to NRT Group for over $66 million. She is also known for starring in ABC’s Shark Tank where she has invested around $5,465,000.
Currently, it is reported that she has a net worth of $100 million. Thus, while a lot many might still side with Reese, there is no denying that there couldn’t have been a better person to comment on her rent issues.
Meanwhile, for the unversed, the Sky star had complained about the rent in Chicago.
Angel Reese rent issues crop up on Instagram live
Reese was drafted as the seventh overall pick by the Chicago Sky and had to pack her bags from Louisiana, where she went to LSU.
Coming to Chicago, the then-rookie realized that her rent was exorbitant and she had to dish out over $8K a month. On an Instagram live a few days ago, she complained that she does not make enough from her W salary to afford herself a place.
“I just hope y’all know the WNBA don’t pay my bills at all. I don’t even think that pays one of my bills… Does that even pay my car note?,” Reese had enumerated jokingly.
She was set to earn $73,439 whereas, through a quick math, her rent stands at $96,000 for the year. Therefore, the 22-year-old mocked the W salaries.
However, now that Corcoran has given everyone a clear view of the rent details in Chicago, maybe Reese will see the positive side of it and be happy that she got an apartment at the right price.
Moreover, with her latest Reebok deal extension for a signature shoe in Spring 2026, she definitely can fill the check easily.
