Angel Reese wanted to be the face of Reebok women’s basketball when she signed with the brand in October 2023.
Reese said in an interview with Yahoo Sports that “different shoe companies wanted to work with me” and added that she could have “easily signed” for one of the competitors but chose to collaborate with the Boston-based shoe and clothing brand.
Early this month, Reese announced on social media that her collaboration with the brand would finally drop on Aug. 23. To ramp up the excitement of the release on Friday, the Chicago Sky rookie posted a simple message on X, formerly Twitter:
“REEBOK X ANGEL”
The photos show Angel Reese wearing a shiny bodysuit, which the former LSU star has flaunted a few times this season.
Surprisingly, Reese did not include in her pictures her signature shoe line. The Premiere Road IV and the BB 4000 II are two of the shoes Reebok redesigned to be part of the “Angel” collection.
All in all, seven apparel pieces and three shoes comprise the Reebok x Angel collection, per Nick DePaula. Fans who have been clamoring for the release of the products can get their hands on them on Friday.
Reese had this to say to Boardroom about what her collaboration with Reebok means:
“I wanted to create a collection that allowed women and girls everywhere to embrace their femininity and power in whatever they’re doing. This collection is for her to be stylish and fierce on all occasions.”
Reebok, valued at $2,400,000,000 by Forbes, is strongly getting back into the shoes and apparel game.
The brand named Shaquille O’Neal its first president of basketball and Allen Iverson its vice president late last year.
Signing Angel Reese to the brand was a move seen by many as a big step towards making the company relevant again in the basketball category.
Angel Reese has a sneaker collab with Allen Iverson
The fourth shoe included in the Angel Reese collaboration with Reebok will not be available for everyone. The brand did special work on Allen Iverson’s iconic “The Answer” model and gave it a touch of “Chi Barbie.”
The unmistakable “Unapologetically Angel” is on the shoe’s tongue, giving it the needed feminine element. Like some of her apparel, the shoe is dressed in silver, blue and gray.
Only friends and family of Reese and the brand can have the sought-after sneaker.
Iverson’s shoes came out in 1999. The “AI3” was his fourth shoe and the third in “The Answer” line. One of the brand’s best classics has been brought back for Reese.
Reebok might eventually re-model one of Shaquille O’Neal’s signature sneakers to fit Angel Reese’s collection. As it was the LA Lakers legend who signed Reese to the brand, it wouldn’t surprise many if they had a collaboration in the future.
