LeBron James hits the magical number, 40. The oldest player in the league celebrated his 40th birthday with his Lakers teammates at the practice facility. The team was gearing up for the New Year’s Eve challenge against the Cavaliers at home – a perfect way to end the year. But before that, the LA fans had their lip-sync interpretation on point, as they hilariously decoded the ‘Akron Hammer’s warning to his son, Bronny James, at the wholesome birthday celebration.

Ever heard of the rookie treatment? We can often see the rookies giving up their seats to the seniors on the bench. Recently, we witnessed Anthony Davis making Bronny take a seat on the floor amid a game. Anyway, coming back to the subject, today, the Lakers set another example for rookie treatment.

While celebrating LeBron James’ birthday, guess who sang the good ol’ birthday song? It was the rookies – Bronny James, Quincy Olivari, Dalton Knecht, and Armel Traore. This was when the fans found out about King James’ friendly warning to his son.

In the video shared by the Lakers’ IG page, the superstar can be seen saying something to his son when the rookies were singing. While we are not clear about what he said, a fan decrypted it and commented, “Bronny about to say, dear dad… Bron like you better not or I’ll trade you.”

Ever since Bronny made it to the Lakers fold, the meme world has dished out plenty of posts, imagining how the 19-year-old would call his dad during the game. And this latest post is an invite to those memers, as they flooded the comments section with hilarious reactions.

Right from the beginning, LeBron James was clear about what his son should call him on the court. At least he was clear on what he shouldn’t call him on the floor. During an interaction about his relationship with his son, Bron said, “No, he can’t [call me dad]. [Bronny] cannot call me ‘dad’ in the workplace.” 

But Bronny still has some privileges, as he added, “In the car, if we ride together, at home, I could be ‘dad,’ but no, he gotta call me like, ‘2-3’ or ‘Bron.’” 

A fan, empathizing with Bronny’s internal battle in the birthday celebration, wrote, “Bron making sure Bronny don’t say “dad”.”

Another fan went a bit overboard and wrote, “Lebron trading all of em if they don’t sing.” So, trading away is the new buzzword in the Lakers nation. Guess why? The team abruptly traded away D’Angelo Russell without any heads up amid his poor season. So, anything can happen to anybody and the fans gave a fair warning to Bronny.

Looks like the 19-year-old took the hint, as another fan wrote, “Bro put emphasis on the LEBRON”. While there isn’t any proof of the claim, there’s a popular notion that ‘King James’ controls the functioning of the Lakers. He may put forward his opinion as a veteran, but it’s clearly the front office that makes most of the decisions. Recently, the media tied James to the JJ Redick hiring and claimed that he lobbied. Nevertheless, there isn’t any proof.

On the other hand, a fan was upset with the way the Lakers management celebrated the superstar’s birthday. They wrote, “This is your best effort you guys were able to give to my King? If I were there I would have wore my Sunday’s best and made sure to take vocal lessons before this historic event. Smh.” As a 4x NBA Champ still playing at the highest level amongst the greatest of the game at the age of 40 is truly historical.
