LeBron James retirement decision hinted at by NBA legend Kendrick Perkins after LA Lakers and Bronny struggles
Another rookie, not Bronny, has impressed with the Lakers this season
THIS could be LeBron James’ final season in the NBA.
That is according to former Celtics star and NBA legend Kendrick Perkins, who couldn’t help but call out James’ steep offensive drop-off.

Kendrick Perkins believes it could be the end of the road for James
At three weeks from his 40th birthday, James’ illustrious 21 seasons in the NBA has left many arguing he’s the GOAT.
But Perkins believes that James is at risk of hurting his legacy at the same time as son Bronny, 20, dropped to the G League after four NBA games.
It comes after James shot 25 per cent from the field as the Lakers were blown out by 109-80 by the Minnesota Timberwolves.
It marked his sixth consecutive game shooting well below 45 per cent – his worst run since his rookie season in 2003.
And Perkins took to X to express his concerns over James as the Lakers dropped to ninth in the Western Conference.
The NBA analyst wrote: “It’s looking like this just might be Bron’s last season.”
He has gone zero for 19 from three-point range over his last four appearances.
James is in his 21st season in the NBA and played his 1,800th career game on Monday.
But Lakers coach JJ Redick announced he will weigh up whether James playing every regular-season game is the right move.
“I don’t know that’s in the best interest of him and us if he does that,” Redick said.
“But if he’s feeling well and feeling good, then he should play. But we obviously want to manage that as best we can.”
But James said he isn’t interested in changing his plan of playing in every game.
“That’s a goal, but, we’ll see. It’s something I ain’t discussing right now,” James said.
The NBA legend has achieved a life goal this year.
Bronny is playing home games with G League side South Bay
He stepped onto the same basketball court as Bronny, who was selected by the Lakers with the 55th pick in June.
He was the first player to be drafted into the NBA while his father is an active player.
But the Lakers sent Bronny to their G League affiliate in South Bay in October, where he has failed to hit the world alight.
Meanwhile fellow rookie Dalton Knecht, who was drafted 17th overall, has enjoyed a solid start to life in the NBA.
The Tennessee alumni has averaged 19.7 points his seven starts this season.
LeBron is signed on with the Los Angeles Lakers through the 2025-26 season.
