After a successful rookie season, Victor Wembanyama has bigger ambitions for the next one.
But while he is already cited as the favorite for a new trophy, the anger of the fans is increasingly felt across the Atlantic.
Rookie of the year with the Spurs and second for the DPOY, just behind his compatriot Rudy Gobert, it goes without saying that Victor Wembanyama had a historic first season in the NBA.
He did not reach the playoffs, sure, but San Antonio is on the right track. With the rise of Wemby and the arrivals of Chris Paul and Harrison Barnes, the future looks bright in Texas.
Another trophy for Victor Wembanyama?
And even if his priority remains to string together successes, Wembanyama does not say no to a few individual trophies in the lot.
After all, if he wins Defender of the Year, for example, it will mean that the Frenchman has been exceptional with Spurs.
But surprisingly, ESPN’s experts have Wembanyama ranked first for another award.

A bit surprising considering his rookie campaign, which means Wembanyama would have to have some pretty crazy stats to win the MIP.
Possibly with his progress, though fans are very skeptical of that prediction.
