A blockbuster trade proposal has the Milwaukee Bucks sending off fireworks around the NBA by dealing franchise star Giannis Antetokounmpo to an up-and-coming Western Conference club.
Last year, Giannis Antetokounmpo signed a three-year contract extension with Milwaukee worth $186 million. The new deal was supposed to silence any speculation about the two-time MVP being traded in the near future, but that hasn’t been the case.
The Bucks are off to a disappointing 6-9 start, needing a 4-1 run just to get three games above .500. Coupled with Milwaukee being eliminated in the first round of the playoffs in back-to-back years, some fans and pundits are wondering if Giannis may change course and request a trade.
A blockbuster trade proposal making its way around X/Twitter has the Bucks trading Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Jabari Smith Jr., Reed Sheppard, Steven Adams, Cam Whitmore, Jae’Sean Tate and four-first-round picks:

The Rockets (11-5) have been one of the biggest surprises of 2024-25. After a painful few years to begin the post-James Harden era, the Rockets are trending up with a young core of Jalen Green, Alperen Sengun and Tari Eason, with veteran guard Fred VanVleet playing a vital role to their success.

So if the Rockets could somehow land Giannis Antetokounmpo, they would unquestionably make the jump to NBA championship contender in a tough Western Conference featuring the Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers and Oklahoma City Thunder.
Bucks Won’t Trade Giannis Antetokounmpo Any Time Soon
Giannis and Damian Lillard are among the top NBA scoring duos, and help is on the horizon with fellow All-Star Khris Middleton nearing his season debut. If the Bucks fail to resemble a championship contender this season, then the Antetokounmpo trade speculation will ramp up.
But for now, the Bucks are committed to winning with this superstar core intact.
