A blockbuster trade proposal has the Minnesota Twins stunning the baseball landscape by dealing superstar shortstop Carlos Correa to a National League heavyweight.

Carlos Correa has been heavily mentioned in trade rumors throughout the winter, with reports stating that Minnesota has received offers on the 30-year-old. In 2023, he signed a new six-year contract extension with the AL Central club worth $200 million.

But with Minnesota winning just a single playoff series with their current core (a sweep of the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2023 American League Wild Card Series), nobody should be surprised if the front office decides to make a roster shake-up. This team underachieved mightily in 2024 with a record of 82-80, after all.

Bleacher Report’s Zachary D. Rymer proposed a blockbuster trade idea that has Minnesota sending Carlos Correa to the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for pitcher Bobby Miller and promising pitching prospect Edgardo Henriquez:

“With the Twins for sale and no longer tied to a regional sports network, it’s hard to imagine them moving Correa in anything other than a salary dump. This move would accomplish that and save them from paying him over $30 million in each of the next four seasons.

Correa is too good to give up for nothing, though. This is where Miller and Henriquez would come in, as both offer high-upside arms that the Twins could use immediately in 2025.”

It should be noted that Correa has full control over a potential move, as the Twins agreed to placing a no-trade clause in his contract. But it’d be tough for Correa (or almost any MLB player, for that matter) to reject the chance to play on a star-studded team led by two-way phenom Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman.

Last season, Correa hit .310 with 14 homers and 54 RBI with an OPS of .905 in 96 games.

Carlos Correa Would Make Dodgers Practically Unstoppable

The Dodgers had scares against the San Diego Padres and New York Mets in the postseason, but they had no problem taking care of the New York Yankees in the World Series.

Very few teams can realistically challenge the Dodgers in a best-of-five or best-of-seven. If they added Correa to the mix, you could just go ahead and pencil down the Dodgers for at least two more World Series titles over the next five years.
