The WNBA is facing calls to suspend Dijonai Carrington for what she did to Caitlin Clark on Sunday.
Carrington played Clark in Game 1 of the playoff series between the Connecticut Sun and the Indiana Fever. The Sun topped the Fever, 93-69, on Sunday afternoon. Clark had a brutal game, scoring just 11 points and dishing out eight assists, while having a tough shooting night. The former No. 1 overall WNBA Draft pick went 4 for 17 from the field, including 2 for 13 from the 3-point line. Clark was playing at less than 100 percent for some of the contest, though, thanks to Carrington’s actions. Things got physical between the two guards.

Carrington poked Clark in the eye during Game 1 on Sunday afternoon. Clark played the rest of the game, but was sporting a black eye following the contest.
The WNBA is now facing calls to suspend Carrington for her role in the act on Sunday afternoon.
“The @WNBA needs to suspend Dijonai Carrington for at least one game. Intentionally poking someone in the eye is complete garbage,” one fan wrote.
“No one should have to nearly lose an eye simply for doing their job. @WNBA needs to suspend DiJonai Carrington and clean up their game. Her actions were purposeful and dangerous. Is it now acceptable in the @WNBA to intentionally attempt to maim an opponent for life?” one fan added.
“If #WNBA does not suspend Carrington for that blatant eye stab, then I think all Clark fans should refuse to watch any more games until Carrington is punished. It was clearly intentional, it could have ended Caitlin’s career. This is not funny,” one fan added.
“The league should look at this and Carrington should be suspended for game two. That is not a natural movement and was 100% intentional,” one fan added.
Game 2 between the Sun and the Fever is scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m. E.T. It’ll air on ESPN.
