EDF – Les Bleus qualified for the semi-final, Evan Fournier reacts bluntly: “Despite everything, we are…

In an almost miraculous way, the French Team produced a monstrous match to overcome Canada in the semi-finals of the Olympic Games.

Ultra-clutch at the end of the match, Evan Fournier spoke after the final whistle.

After a rather complicated group stage, almost no one believed in a victory for the French Team in the quarter-finals.

And yet, it was the transformed Bleus who took Canada by the throat from the first minutes of the match, driven by a red-hot Isaïa Cordinier (10 points in the first quarter).

Vincent Collet’s men immediately took the upper hand in the match and never gave up their lead, even when Shai Gilgeous-Alexander gradually got closer in the money time.

Benched after starting the first three games, Evan Fournier then came out with a great game by chaining together important baskets, including this huge long-distance bomb:

A feat that is all the more symbolic since the full-back was at the heart of the controversy in recent days, having experienced major tactical disagreements with coach Vincent Collet.

not enough to destabilize him, however, judging by his composure at the end of the match.

Interviewed by France Télévision, Fournier was very honest:

Since 2019, we have created a unique group, which has made great performances.

It’s a group that has a lot of heart and tonight I found it again. (…) You know, a lot has happened for me in the last two years, but I will never lose my confidence.? I had opportunities, I was discreet throughout the match, and so that gave me opportunities at the end of the match and I simply knew how to seize them.

We stayed together. Despite everything that was said, everything that happened, behind the scenes or not, we were able to remain united.

A great speech from the veteran and a great victory that the EDF must now feed on, while it will have its revenge against Germany in the semi-finals.

It didn’t look good for the French Team, but Evan Fournier and his ilk fought back.

The dream of Olympic gold in Paris still lives, provided they overcome the reigning world champions Germans in the semi-finals.

We will have to be ready.
