San Antonio Spurs (DR) / Indiana Fever (DR)
New face of the WNBA, Caitlin Clark does not receive huge emoluments. This had generated a viral comparison with Victor Wembanyama recently, more relevant than ever after the recent comments of the Fever star.
Despite the significant resistance that Angel Reese is putting up against her, she still seems well placed to inherit the title of Rookie of the Year.
Caitlin Clark is indeed brilliantly continuing her little journey in the WNBA, where she seems to have truly found her marks.
The proof is in her latest performance, delivered against the Storm and concluded with 23 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 2 blocks:
Caitlin Clark frustrated by her “meager” salary?
A key player in the Fever’s recent victory over Seattle (92-75), Clark was able to count on the help of her teammates to achieve this brilliant success.
And in particular that of Lexie Hull, who had her best career performance with 22 points off the bench.
This also led to a funny question at the press conference, which the new Indiana star also wanted to answer:
Reporter: Lexie, are you finally going to give your loved ones full season tickets now?
Lexie Hull: I might have to! I’ll make sure the Fever looks into this.
Caitlin Clark: This is gonna be expensive! It’s almost our entire salary. I’m not kidding! We’re gonna have to get some help with this.
A statement delivered with a smile by Clark, but which once again puts the subject of WNBA salaries on the table.
This, after the comparison with that of Victor Wembanyama had already sown discord a few weeks ago.
As a result, many Internet users see in these admittedly caricatured remarks a desire to push the leaders of the women’s league to better pay the players:
She’s quietly advocating for the WNBA to raise salaries.
While the initial question wasn’t even directed at her, Caitlin Clark made a point of bringing up the relatively low salaries earned by WNBA players. A way for many to alert the league in order to receive a raise.
