NBA – Kevin Garnett speaks frankly about Victor Wembanyama’s Olympics: “I found it too…

Kevin Garnett et Victor Wembanyama

After 21 years in the NBA, Kevin Garnett is now closely following the development of the league’s new prodigies.

Starting with Victor Wembanyama, whose performances at the Paris Olympics he gave an honest assessment.

Despite the density of stars gathered in Paris a few weeks ago, few were surrounded by such pressure.

All the hopes of French basketball fans were indeed placed on Victor Wembanyama, who was tasked with leading the Blues to the gold medal in these Olympics played on home turf.

The French fans weren’t the only ones keeping a close eye on his performances.

Kevin Garnett’s blunt assessment of Wembanyama at the Paris Olympics
Following his incredible rookie season in the NBA in recent months, Wembanyama also wanted to be watched by American observers during the Paris Olympics.

Kevin Garnett was among those who scrutinized him throughout the tournament.

He also did not hold back from giving a scathing assessment of him when discussing his future at the Spurs in his KG Certified podcast:

Kevin Garnett: Wemby? Last season, I found that he didn’t have any easy baskets. All the shots he attempted were hard or contested.

And that’s normal, knowing that he plays in the best league in the world and against the best players in the world.

But I think that with Chris Paul at his side, he’s going to have easy shots, or at least easier ones than up until now. (…)

Shaquille O’Neal merciless on France and the rest of the world: “I don’t think that…

He’s the player with the most potential on the circuit. Once he starts simplifying his game… I watched him at the Olympics and I found him too passive.

But wait before he becomes more aggressive, less altruistic and all that. (…) I think that having Chris Paul, such a proven veteran, on his team will help him overcome difficult situations and it will benefit him.

Having arrived in San Antonio this summer, Chris Paul could therefore be of great service to Wemby and accelerate his progress.

And why not make him more consistent, but also selfish, which he would have lacked during the Games according to Garnett.

More generally, the presence of such an experienced and well-known leader in the Texan franchise should have a major positive impact on the latter according to the Big Ticket:

Kevin Garnett: Get ready for San Antonio to be better managed and more organized.

We know (Gregg Popovich)’s style, but I can’t wait to see Chris Paul arrive there and lead this young team.

And if they can put other pieces like that around Wemby… Man, I think San Antonio is really going to have to be considered a team to be feared in the league.

Deemed too passive during the Paris Olympic Games by Kevin Garnett, Victor Wembanyama will be able, according to the latter, to count on Chris Paul to erase this defect in his game.

A prospect that the Spurs and their fans would have reason to rejoice.
