Victor Wembanyama et Stephen Curry

Stephen Curry was once again exceptional this Saturday night to shatter the dreams of the French team. A huge disappointment for the Blues, but a great joy at the finish for the point guard. He confided after his first gold medal at the Olympic Games.

When it’s not LeBron James or Kevin Durant who wake up, Stephen Curry is there to save Team USA. Already sparkling during the semi-final against Serbia, the Chef did it again this Saturday night for the final. An absolutely crazy 8/12 three-pointers for the Warriors point guard, enough to knock out the French team in the final minutes and win the gold.

Steph Curry honest about the victory

The point guard has nevertheless been relatively discreet since the start of the tournament with a lot of clumsiness. But he woke up at the best of times and without him, France could have easily beaten Team USA, just like Serbia in the semi-final. And you can imagine that the first happy one is Curry, who was playing in his first Olympic Games (and maybe his last).

Once in front of the media, Curry spoke about this great victory:

Steph Curry (via l’Equipe): “I lived everything I could hope for for a first Olympic experience. I had incredible teammates, an incredible staff and we felt such energy around us, in each room where we played. I am happy to finally have this gold medal around my neck, now I need three to catch Kevin (Durant).”

“We committed to this mission, to continue the American domination and we knew that it would be a difficult task with competitive teams to face. On the podium, I was smiling, having fun, enjoying it because it might not happen again.”

For now, it is impossible to know if Curry will return in 4 years, especially since the competition will take place in Los Angeles. The point guard prefers to savor the moment, before returning to the Warriors in a few weeks for training camp. However, the atmosphere may be very different than with Team USA.

Steph Curry is a happy man after the victory in these Olympic Games. The point guard was unfortunately too strong for the French team, fortunately he may not be there in 4 years. One less worry for the Blues.
