The world of basketball was dealt an unimaginable blow when Kobe Bryant tragically passed away in January 2020.

However, his legacy and influence is still going strong today.

That was made clear earlier this month when Bryant’s locker from the Staples Center, now known as the Crypto.com Arena, went up for auction.

It’s been reiterated at a recent auction that saw a card featuring the Lakers icon go up for auction.

The bid for the Upper Deck Ultimate Collection Ultimate Logos Signature Kobe Bryant Signed Game-Used Logoman Patch Card went up for auction on July 23.

Initially listed for $250,000, the card has closed for a whopping $1,584,643.

 As per the Golden website, little was known about the card before it was submitted to PSA (Perfect Silent Auction).

Platform known for selling memorabilia

The platform used to sell the card was Golden, a platform that facilitates online auction services, and in turn, the buying and selling of collectibles and memorabilia.

So far Golden has sold items for over $2 billion in total as per the official website.

It isn’t the first time a Bryant item has gone up for auction and sold for big money, showing that the Black Mamba’s legacy remains strong.

As for the Bryant’s locker, it was the one that the 5x NBA champ used from 2003 to the end of his career in 2016.

Sotheby’s valued it between $1-1.5 million, but the selling price of $2.8 million showed its significant growth in value.

It also came along with a scrapbook of photos and a poster of the NBA legend.
