It seems very hard to find an NFL announcer that most people genuinely like. However, Mike Tirico, who works for NBC, has always been one of the best.
In fact, after some recent news, there’s an argument that he’s also one of the most dedicated broadcasters in all sports.
During Sunday Night Football, Tirico revealed that he was in the booth after just tearing his Achilles. The cameras then flipped to an angle of the booth, which showed him with a cast on his left leg.
Mike Tirico ruptured his Achilles earlier on Monday and is still calling the Eagles/Rams game tonight.

Mike Tirico calling the game with his left leg in a cast/air boot. Had they not shown that on the broadcast, you’d have no idea he was dealing with that. Total pro.

This now gives Tirico the right to tell every player who gets hurt to just “tough it out.”
Calling a football game on national television with a torn achilles is as gritty as it gets.
Bravo, @miketirico 🍊. https://t.co/FLAa6Weipe— Jake Marsh (@JakeMarsh18) November 25, 2024
Mike Tirico Knows Much More Than Just Football
If you were tuned into the Olympics this summer, there’s a good chance you heard Tirico on your TV.
According to NBC, he reeled in more than 30 million viewers daily across NBC, Peacock, and other NBCU platforms while announcing the Paris games.
Tirico embodies the persona of a “sports guy” to the fullest.
