Cameras caught a strange post-game interaction between New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr and defensive end Cameron Jordan after Sunday’s road loss to the Carolina Panthers.

Carolina upset Cameron Jordan’s Saints 23-22, extending New Orleans’ losing streak to seven games. With the loss, the Saints fell to 2-7 and will undoubtedly see their playoff drought extend to four years.

After the game, WCNBC’s Nick Carboni shared a video of a visibly frustrated Jordan walking in the opposite direction of the Saints’ locker room. Carr went over to get Jordan, with running back Alvin Kamara following suit:

Jordan’s frustrations are certainly understandable. Since he entered the league as a rookie in 2011, New Orleans has won at least seven games each year. But at this rate, the 2024 group will go down as one of the first in franchise history.

The Saints handed Cameron Jordan a two-year contract extension in 2023, a clear-cut indicator that he was confident about competing for a Super Bowl with this franchise. But at 2-7, the Saints are far more likely to win the first overall pick than to make the playoffs.

With the NFL trade deadline less than 48 hours away, Saints GM Mickey Loomis has to consider dealing some of his top veteran players. The likes of Jordan, Marshon Lattimore, Tyrann Mathieu, Demario Davis and Paulson Adebo would have considerable interest on the trade market, after all.

Saints Should Trade Cameron Jordan

Jordan has been admirably loyal to the Saints throughout his career, but this feels like the ideal time for both sides to break up. The 35-year-old isn’t getting any younger, and there’s no sense finishing his career on a terrible team with no signs of improvement in sight.

Playoff contenders in need of pass-rushing help like the Baltimore Ravens, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Washington Commanders and Houston Texans make sense as landing spots for him.
